Last night, Companion Services of America had the privilege of attending an event that truly reminded me what compassionate care looks like beyond the clinical setting.
The event supported the League of Ribbons, a remarkable organization founded in 2012 as the fundraising arm of the Lynn Cancer Institute. Their mission is a powerful one: ease the emotional and financial burden of cancer so patients can focus on healing.
What stood out most was how they care for the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
Through their efforts, patients have access to wellness programs like art therapy, music therapy, massage therapy, oncology yoga, acupuncture, and meditation – services designed to bring comfort, reduce stress, and restore a sense of peace during an incredibly difficult time. In addition, they provide practical support such as gift cards for gas and groceries, helping ease everyday burdens for patients and their families.
It was a powerful reminder that healing is not just physical, it’s emotional, mental, and deeply human.
At Companion Services of America, this philosophy resonates deeply with our mission.
We play a vital role in supporting individuals and families through companionship, daily assistance, and compassionate presence. Just like the programs supported by the League of Ribbons, we believe that dignity, comfort, and connection are essential parts of the care journey.
Moments like this reaffirm why we do what we do, because care is more than a service. It’s a commitment to walking alongside someone when they need it most.
