The Search For A Cure For Alzheimer's

CBS news recently televised a report on a possible cure for Alzheimer’s disease. The report is about a study that begins in Colombia, South America, in a village called “Medellin”. There they found extended families that suffer from hereditary early onset Alzheimer’s. There are only a handful of families in the world that carry this rare genetic mutation. They have collected DNA samples from numerous families., in an effort to treat these families with medication before they develop symptoms of the disease. They are experimenting with medication that will reduce the plaque in the brain.
By 2050 it is predicted 16 million people will have Alzheimer’s. It has become a global problem.
