National Mani-Pedi Day

Home Care in Evanston IL

Being on a home care journey with your elderly parent is a wonderful opportunity for you to spend extra quality time together. The time that you spend caring for her and fulfilling her needs helps to strengthen your relationship, enhance your bond, and create memories that you will cherish well after this care relationship comes to an end. While you likely have a routine when it comes to the care that you give your parent, occasionally shaking out of this routine and doing something special is a fun way to boost your spirits and keep life interesting.

April 25 is National Mani-Pedi Day. This is a fantastic chance for you and your elderly loved one to enjoy some pampering outside of your usual care tasks. While you can head to a local beauty salon or spa, these treatments are often expensive and time consuming. If your aging parent suffers from physical or cognitive limitations or challenges, leaving the home to get her nails done may simply not be feasible.

Doing your own manicure and pedicure right in the comfort of your parent’s home lets you customize your approach so that both of you can enjoy the experience as much as possible. It also enables you to maintain the structure of your routine for important aspects such as meals, medications, and rest times so that your parent can enjoy her pampering without suffering consequences later.

For you, enjoying a manicure and pedicure, even when you are doing it yourself, is a fantastic way to ease the stress that can occur in the course of a home care journey. Just taking some time to think about yourself and focus on enjoyment can ease tension and anxiety, and give you an emotional boost. Not only will this help you to feel better, but it will also ensure that you continue to be the highest quality caregiver possible for your aging parent.

Try starting your manicure with this simple and inexpensive soak. Spending a few moments with your hands in this mixture will clean them, prepare them for further treatments, and leave them feeling luxuriously soft and moisturized. Try adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil for soothing aromatherapy while you soak.
