In this Oscar nominee, Gene Hackman stars as Gene Garrison. The widowed college professor must help his father (Melvyn Harris) after his mother dies. While his father needs help, Gene also doesn’t want to give up his dreams of moving to California with his new girlfriend. This causes tension between the two.
You may be familiar with the popular TV show. The award-winning movie came first and shares the saga of an Army medical unit during the Korean War. It starred Donald Sutherland, Robert Duvall, Elliott Gould, and others. It’s considered one of the greatest comedies of all time. Watch the movie before introducing your kids to the TV show.

Another Disney movie, this one stars a young Ron Howard. The Tanner family moves from Pittsburgh to Wyoming where they now own a ranch that’s not in great condition. Your parents need support when you’re not available. If you need a break or have other responsibilities, make sure you have other caregivers lined up to ensure they don’t have to struggle with daily tasks like meals, personal care, or housekeeping.
Caregivers are also helpful when it comes to companionship. If your parents don’t often get out of the home or cannot leave without help, caregivers can help them with ambulation, transportation, and shopping.
